Surfskate Bearings
Surf the Streets Smoothly With Surfskate Bearings
A good set of bearings is key to having a smooth riding experience when out on your surfskate. Most bearings are measured on the ABEC scale, which assesses for precision and accuracy of the bearing. The ABEC scale is measured from 1 to 9, with the higher the number, the greater the degree of precision. Bearings are typically made from steel or ceramics.
How Do You Clean Surfskate Bearings?
First, use your skate tool to remove the wheels from the trucks and then take the bearings out of the wheels. Once you have done this, you’ll now need to remove the rubber shields using a sharp edge like a knife.
Now, place the bearings in either a jar or a specific bearing cleaner that contains the alcohol or acetone solution. Then, shake the jar for around 10 seconds or until you can see the solution getting dirty. Next, remove the bearings and let them dry. To check that they are clean, give them a spin. Spinning smoothly? Finally, you need to lubricate them with some bearing oil. You are now ready to put your setup back together and get riding.
