Kids Helmets for Inline & Roller Skating
Should My Kids Wear a Skate Helmet?
Whether your kid just started skating or has been practicing it for a long time, a skate helmet for kids is considered the most important piece of protection. A kids helmet can protect your loved ones from a serious brain or head injury.
Different from a bike helmet, kids’ skate helmets fully cover the back of the head to avoid injuries when falling backward on skates. They feature extra protective foam under the hard plastic shell and interchangeable padding straps for optimal fit.
What Do I Look for in a Kids Skate Helmet?
A skate helmet should always fit snugly all around the head. The helmet should not be too large and not wiggle as it might become misplaced when falling. A helmet that is too tight can cause discomfort and headaches. To find out the perfect size, remember to measure your children’s heads. To do that, measure the head circumference of your kids just above their eyes and ears with a soft measuring tape. Also, don’t forget to check out the sizing guide for each model, as each brand designs its helmets slightly differently.
All kids' skate helmets sold in this category are certified for skating, whatever style your child prefers. In the product descriptions, you will see the most common certification labels of EN, CPSC, and ASTM. Without getting too technical, if the helmet has one or more of these certifications then it is safe to use for roller and inline skating, as well as skateboarding.
